Unity Process in Sport in South Africa: Investigation Phase One

In pursuit of the ideal of an egalitarian society, we may confuse forms of social differentiation that were imposed by apartheid with those that arise from diverse forms of social identity like gender, class, culture and geography. Some of these are likely to persist and others will arise, and sport, as a microcosm of society is likely to reflect these. Some of the expectations expressed in this study reflect an arguably unrealistic ideal that all sports will reflect neat correspondence with the demographic profile of the country.
