Race day nutrition

The two primary goals on race day for the ultra-marathon runner is to maintain normal hydration and to maintain normal blood glucose levels. This can be achieved by consuming adequate amounts of carbohydrates and fluids during the race which maintains/increases energy, prevents hypoglycaemia and dehydration, delays fatigue and improves performance.
