Minister comments on Semenya announcement
The Minister of Sport and Recreation, Rev Makhenkesi Stofile, commented on the IAAF's announcement that Caster Semenya is free to compete in international athletics again.
This is great news for Caster and all of us. We in the Department wish to thank one and all for heeding our request to observe issues of confidentiality in this matter. We thank each individual for their remarkable support to our Golden Girl. Above all, we thank Caster for her patience and resilience. We thank her family and coach for their unfailing support.", the Minister said.
"Now Caster’s future is in her hands. We wish her well in her career. It is certainly exciting to be South African," he added.
