How to approach donors for funds

Many communities and schools are denied the benefit of playing sport because they simply do not have the funds to create facilities or buy equipment. On the other hand, many South African companies and citizens want to invest in community projects that will offer people opportunities for advancement - like new sporting facilities or equipment. How can the needy club, school or sporting code convince these potential donors to invest in them?
