Rugby international in Soweto a step in the right direction
The Ministry of Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) supports the decision by SA Rugby Union (SARU) and the Golden Lions to take the first Tri-Nation match between South Africa and New Zealand on 21 August 2010, to Soweto.
This goes a long way in solidifying the nation building celebratory mood that the 2010 FIFA World Cup has started.
Sport is known to break all barriers. South Africa has been fortunate to have a number of sporting events that have brought the nation together. This should be embraced.
As with the World Cup, South Africans in general and Sowetans in particular, are urged to support this tournament in great numbers, and continue to host international visitors with the spirit of Ubuntu. The Ministry praised the organisers for their efforts in dropping the ticket prices, particularly for the people of Soweto.
