Sport and Race in South Africa

South Africa is a sport loving country so that matters affecting sport are of considerable importance. Improvement in the standards of all sport hinges on competition. The utmost stimulus to improvement can only be obtained by competition at international level, that is by the interchange of teams and individuals of international standard. The various world bodies controlling sport only recognise one national association in each country. Like the Olympic Games charter, the constitutions of most of these world bodies specifically prohibit discrimination on grounds of race.
