The SRSA delegation led by the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Hon. Thulas Nxesi, MP met with the SASCOC Board led by its President, Mr. Gideon Sam on Monday the 22nd of January 2018 in Kempton Park to review the work of SASCOC and to process the update report on Team preparation and Team delivery to the forth-coming Commonwealth Games to be hosted in Gold Coast, Australia this April. The meeting also addressed itself to good governance in sport.

The meeting considered the Zulman Ministerial Committee of Enquiry into the Governance matters of SASCOC and agreed that the Committee of Enquiry was the best platform to address the current governance challenges facing the entire SASCOC. Minister Nxesi indicated that "SASCOC performs crucial functions for sport in the country bestowed and delegated to it in terms of the National Sport and Recreation Amendment Act no. 18 of 2007 and good governance was a key requirement and condition on which excellence in sport is achieved".

Mr. Sam welcomed the Ministerial Committee of Enquiry:- "We pledge our cooperation and full participation in the Committee of Enquiry and believe that it will help us in diagnosing the challenges we face and assist us with recommendations that we will engage upon with the Honourable Minister at the end in charting a way forward for the future of SASCOC and sport in general in our country".

The meeting agreed to call upon all those who can contribute to the enquiry and can assist the work of the enquiry as well as the interested stakeholders throughout the sport movement to come forward and participate in the enquiry.
