The effects of axial loading on the posture of African Female adolescents in rural Kwa-Zulu Natal

Pain of the spine and surrounding muscles was found among young girls in rural areas who carry heavy objects on their heads. Changes in muscle activity and posture, was required when carrying such loads as part of a daily routine. This may have long term effects on their spinal health.
