Incidence of shoulder injuries and related risk factors in masters swimmers in South Africa

A combination of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries that lead to shoulder pain in swimmers has been described as "swimmers shoulder". Such an injury can interfere with training and swimming performance across all ages groups. There is a need to determine the frequency and causes of this injury in older (Masters) competitors.
