Fat

The fats and oils we get from food provide a concentrated source of energy with double the amount of calories compared to an equal amount of carbohydrate or protein. Fats and oils are also important sources of fatsoluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) and "essential fatty acids" which are necessary for optimal health and performance.
