The 7th All Africa Games Commemorative Book

In 1920 Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympics, initiated the concept of a sporting event which would unite the whole of the African continent. However, colonial powers opposed this idea, weary of the unifying implications of such and event. Despite this opposition, there were several endeavours to host the Games. This resulted in hosting attempts by Algiers and Alexandria in 1925 and 1929 respectively
