CANCELLED: Minister Nathi Mthethwa invites media to an International Women's Day Webinar

6 March 2021

Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to a webinar on International Women's Day (IWD).

The 2021 International Women's Day will be celebrated under the theme: "Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in the Covid 19 World."

The International Women's Day, celebrated annually on 8 March, has a deep history dating back to 1909, when women in the American Socialist Party fought for workers' or labor rights and protested against long working hours. Since then, it has grown to observe women's achievements, successes, challenges and failures worldwide.

In line with the observation of this important day, Minister Nathi will host a webinar to celebrate and honour the role of women in the global landscape.

Featured will be some of Africa's most influential women and women leaders in women's advocacy, such as: AU Head of Culture, Mrs. Angela Martins, UN Women Executive Director: Mrs. Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka and AU Director and Social Cohesion Advocate (SCA): Mrs. Catherine Constantinides.
