Day 2 of the National School Sports Championships

10 December 2019

National School Sport summer championships continue on its second day under challenging weather patterns forcing the organizing team to call off certain codes whilst suspending others pending the subsiding of the heavy downpour.

This initiative of Sport and Recreation SA in partnership with Department of Basic education is currently taking place in and around Tshwane and surrounding areas under serious rainfall therefore placing tremendous pressure to various outdoor codes to be called off.

Cricket which was scheduled to play at three venues namely TUT, Groenkloof, Pretoria West Cricket Club and Harlequin couldn't even commence due identified cricket fields being waterlogged, the games have therefore being indefinitely suspended. Organizers felt the need to suspend cricket indefinitely to safeguard the well being of the players. Another codes which are currently on hold pending change in the weather pattern are both Softball which was scheduled to play at Rietondale and rugby which was scheduled to take place at University of Pretoria.

In the meantime, only indoor codes with the exception of Swimming at Hillcrest Swimming Pool are currently taking place unhindered at the following venues: Goalball at Rembrandt hall (University of Pretoria), Basketball (Heartfelt Arena), Wheelchair Basketball at (Pretoria West Hall), Gymnastics at Matsport Centre (Centurion) and Table Tennis at (University of Pretoria), Mamelodi Campus
