Launch of the Softball Premier League
Minister hosted the inaugural launch of the Softball Premier League on Friday 26 April 2019 in Johannesburg, which will commence from 04 to 25 May 2019. The league will see 16 teams, men and women, from 8 provinces compete in the league over a four - week period.
Addressing the media at the launch Minister Tokozile Xasa shared that; “It is with the greatest of pride to note that the investment and hard work that the department and Softball South Africa are putting into the development and growth of Softball is beginning to pay off. I’m most excited by the fact that this league is being launched on the basis of gender parity. The league has fully integrated both men and women teams from eight of our nine provinces, excluding the Northern Cape.”
Accompanied by the MEC of Limpopo Thandi Moraka, President of Softball Federation Mr. Mashilo Matsetela as well as Ms. Natalie Du Toit representing SASCOC; Minister Xasa unveiled the logo of the Softball Premier League and declared the National Volleyball League officially open.
