Minister Tokozile Xasa opens the 2018 South African School Sport National Championships
Standard Bank Arena, Johannesburg - With the event # Play4tomorrow and with School Sport being the bedrock of Sport development, Minister Tokozile Xasa after a successful meeting that she held at Cricket SA with all MEC of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation had to then attend to her Department School Sport Championship official opening at Ellis Park Arena. Gracing the event was also representative and senior officially from Department of Basic Education, Sport Trust, Love Life and officials from Provincial Departments of Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation including Gauteng MEC of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Ms Faith Mazibuko. the event was also graced by Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini as one of the special guests of Minister Tokozile Xasa.
The event was well attended by over 6000 athletes from all provinces inclusive of athletes with special needs. In her official remarks Gauteng MEC of Sport Arts and Culture (MEC) Faith Mazibuko welcomed all the learners athletes and encouraged them to always consider fair play and remember that sport plays an integral part in growth of all individuals and also sharpens the mind.
Minister Xasa in her opening remarks, regarded all school sport athletes as future role models and as giants who will in future stand up in life. Stated that the kids who grow up in sport or as sport athletes end up with proper life building blocks further stated that, they remain cornerstones of proper life foundation that all kids require so that they end up being future representation and good ambassadors for all our future international competitions.
