Newly appointed Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture congratulates SA Rugby Sevens for qualifying for Tokyo 2020.
Newly appointed Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Minister Nathi Mthetwa congratulated SA Blitzboks (Rugby Sevens) for securing a bronze medal by finishing third at this past Weekend’s HSBC Paris Sevens.
Minister Mthetwa also highlighted the achievement of The Blitzboks flyer, Muller du Plessis, for his inclusion in the rugby sevens dream team alongside other international sevens players.
"This is one of the best news I have received since occupying the helm of both combined Sport, Arts and Culture departments. I am pleased by the performance of coach Neil Powell's team for finishing the 2018/19 series on a high note and for becoming good ambassadors for our country. The inclusion of flyer, Muller du Plessis in the dream team is also great news and worth being mentioned and celebrated. I so wish that other national teams that are currently taking part in various international competitions can be able to draw inspiration from the blitzboks victory and turn their aspirations and those of the country around and follow suite.
Congratulations to the team for ending the season well and qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Once more, all the best to their flyer Muller du Plessis for his future dream team performance and I am certain he will represent the country well", Indicated Minister Nathi Mthetwa.
