SA Sport Awards 2018 Nominees Announced as IAAF 2018 Nominees

The Minister of Sport and Recreation, SA Ms. Tokozile Xasa has congratulated SA Sport Awards 2018 nominees, Ms.Caster Semenya as well as Mr. Luvo Manyonga for being announced as the IAAF Athletics Awards World 2018 nominees.

Caster Semenya has been nominated for the Female World Athlete of the year whilst Luvo Manyonga has been nominated for the Male World Athlete of the Year.

Echoing the nation’s pride in these two nominations Minister Xasa said: “This global recognition of our South African athletes affirms the spirit of commitment and hard work evident in our South African athletes competing at international sporting platforms. We are proud of the sporting legacies which are being built by these athletes and how such legacies serve to encourage the youth of SA as they look up to these inspirational role models who continue to fly the SA flag with such sporting excellence.

We encourage each and every South African to rally behind our nominated athletes and vote for the by visiting the respective IAAF website and its social media platforms. Remember for them to win we as South Africans, we would have to vote in large numbers. Let’s flood those available social media platforms and grant them the required support”.

Last week Friday, 19/10/2018, Minister Xasa also announced these two athletes as SA Sport Awards 2018 Nominees: Luvo Manyonga is nominated in the Sportsman of the year and People’s Choice categories whilst Caster Semenya is nominated in 3 categories, (i.e.) Sportswoman of the year, Sport Star of the Year as well as the People’s Choice athlete of the year.

The 13th annual South African Sport Awards is scheduled to take place on the 11th November 2018 at Pacofs in Bloemfontein. The voting lines have since been opened encouraging South Africans to vote for their favorite People’s Choice Sports Star of the year athlete. via SMS or by visiting the SA Sport awards website to vote.
