This past Friday the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture represented by the Director General Vusimuzi Mkhize visited Mpumalanga (ThabaChweu) Municipality to handover a refurbished and revamped sport facility. The Minister represented by the Director General in his department (V. Mkhize) visited Mashishing Township and handed over Masakeng Stadium to the community. The department in partnership with Mpumalanga Provincial department of Culture, Sport and Recreation further handed over sport attire and equipment to the local clubs therefore giving them an opportunity to play in uniformity. 

The well attended handover event commenced with a 5 KM (Ichoose2BActive) walk in and around the township followed by various sporting activities at Masakeng Stadium.  

DG Mkhize In giving Minister remarks whilst delivering the Stadium to the community indicated that the community should ensure that this facilities are utilized for their intended purpose and nothing else, he further  stated that no form of vandalism should be tolerated and perpetrators of such occurrences should be handed over as soon as possible to the authorities. He further stated that the facility  must be utilized with the objective of grooming and producing stars of tomorrow or future stars so that the area of ThaboChweu is placed on the map by its youth and self produced ambassadors.
