Tlokwe Youth Centre gets a combi court on Mandela day
The Deputy Minister of the department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Ms. Nocawe Mafu, handed over a combi court, sporting and office equipment to the community of the Tlokwe youth centre in Potchefstroom on the 18th of July 2019.
In honour of the tenth anniversary of Nelson Mandela Day, Deputy Minister attended the activation of the Tlokwe Youth centre - accompanied by the MMC of Potchefstroom Ms. Lesego Molapisi as well as the Acting Executive Mayor of JB Marks Municipality, Clllr Mataboge.
Addressing the community of Tlokwe, Deputy Minister reminded the community of the rich history of sport performance from Potchefstroom citing the likes of Mr. Kenneth McArthur, Mr. Ezekiel Sepeng to serve as a reminder of the feisty spirit of sporting excellence which the city has. The handing over of sporting equipment on the day was to encourage the youth in community to resuscitate that spirit - more so as history in the city of Potch has proven how indeed sport has the power to change their lives.
“We hope you will use what we are leaving behind - sports equipment - to improve your lives and to make sure you do better in your sporting code/s so as to become professional sport players of the future” Deputy Minister concluded.
